A few pics from me gliding this Sunday. (Sorry for the mobile phone quality.... they were taken on mobiles)  Tongue

A bit of air to air action!

The sun as it sets though the cloud as we fly over the lakes...

Ready to be launched into the orange...

Winching up at sunset

Jon took this of me.... on my own doing my solo... one of the last flights before sunset. And the first time where i've been allowed to leave the circuit and do what I want on my own.... boy it was fun... and so beautiful aswell...  Smiley

Nice shots. One question though, I thought that gliding at sunset was a no no. Seems to remember that you have to be down 1/2 hour before sunset  (learnt the hard way many many years ago that at 8000 feet and a setting sun equates to a dark landing whilst leaving a trail of well pressed 10 pence pieces down the approach Shocked............And a one way conversation without a coffee or beer with my CFI Embarrassed

Any C Category pilot (I'm currently going for my G2 rating) can fly up to 15 minutes after sunset (Depending on how light it actually is). When I did my solo I landed 5 seconds before 16:29Z which was the time issued by the Met for sunset, so I was just within my limits!  Tongue Roll Eyes But on that Sunday it was still quite light (until around 16:45), and yes my instructor did tell me the tale of pilots flying past sunset without realising, and when they begin to decend to land suddenly realise its actually nearly pitch black on the ground...  Tongue Roll Eyes Grin
