Why don't we made ,like the screenshot somekind of reward ,a humble condecoration every year or monthly about members whos being doing well things to SimV a good contribuitions like for example Nick or striker , Brett Henderson,Hagar , we  would make somekind of elections ,sumit votes thru a PM to Pete , Dave or other mod  and have a winner ,this would encourage some of the good members that without nothing exchange dedicate part of their time helping people...

Alex

Just a small acknowledgment to those who has been helpful to this site, and just to be nominated would be also very well to them, think about it..

The trouble is so many people have made contributions, to single out one would be prejudiced against all the others.....

True... but isn't that the case for most of these types of awards...? Obviously the person who would receive this award would have done something very special and contributed to the forums in numerous ways. Each Mod could simply put forward who they think should receive the award and why, and If you all discuss it you should be able to find a suitable winner.

Think of it a bit like the Oscars then... with awards each year for different things.... That sounds a good if we have a selection of 'awards' and acknowledgements for members who have contributed in different ways... e.g. One for, Best Screenshot of the Year, using the guys a Studio V to pick a suitable line up, Most helpful member of the Year... etc...

I think it'd generate bad feelings in some corners and that is antithesis of the SimV spirit.

I think it would be a good idea to do a SimV end of year awards... all very tongue in cheek of course!
Categories could include:
Photographer of the year
Spammer of the year
Most improved member
Screenshot artist
Mod of the year
Pete of the year (OK.. only joking on that one  Wink )
F1 prediction contest in the Auto forum of the year  (Again, joking   Cheesy )
PITA of the year
Most missed
Funniest member
Outstanding contribution to SimV
And maybe, The John Howard (miltestpilot) Memorial award.

The list could go on....

We have discussed this in the past and collectively decided against it, since I would be garnering all the votes every year, that anyone else would merely be, at best, a distant second.

I like the idea and yet I don't like it. True too many people are around to make quality judgement.

This is likely a "bad" idea for all the RIGHT reasons.  I really appreciate the sentiment behind it.... but likely it would just start a lot of "Why him and not me" thoughts in the background.  Screenshot competitions are enough for that potential, I think.

best,
