I have MS Train Sim 1. Got bored with it after a while as it was a bit "limited".
Looks as if the next vesion will be nice!

A World of Rails
Train Simulator 2 will model almost all of the world’s railways using sophisticated processing techniques and real-world track data.
Powerful tools will let users build upon this framework by customizing, extending, creating, and sharing their own content with other virtual railroading enthusiasts.

Interesting! They'll be modelling Indian Railways too as far as I know...That will be quite nice...Indian Railways has I think the largest rail network in the world and for sure is the largest commercial employer in the world... Wink

That site is devoid of any other information though...That kinda sucks... Undecided

Thanks for the heads up Dave Smiley

Some more screenshots can be found here:

It's going to run on the FSX graphics engine...I can already see the similarities in the sky and sun...This should be rather good...It also appears to be Vista only... Wink

Unfortunately yes...It's mostly people doing stupid things and people who don't understand that trains always have the right of way...They'll cross the tracks when the engine is a few feet away...My uncle told me he once saw an old lady who thought she could outrun the train...and promptly got chopped into pieces...Not the best idea... Undecided

If they can ever link this with flight simulator, the possibillities are endless. You could have missions like, fly to one airport for a certain time and delays mean delays to the rail portion costing the company money. You could open up a whole business side to the sims. fly in freight then take it the final leg by train.

There are a few words I would use to describe those people, but they arne't welcome here.  Wink

MSTS2 will be good. Lets face it, you can't get worse than the original when it comes to user-friendlyness and adding stuff. I've spent years trying to get addons to work, and they never have (and probably never will now)

I just hope MS doesn't pull one like they did in FS involving the logos of the trains. Just give us the real livery when they can! Besides, I never undersatood why companies don't like to have their logos everywhere. It's free face time!

If it is possible, it's almost a shure bet that  M$ will link them eventually:
