Is it possible to replace the fsx dumbed down version with fs9. At least fs9 knew which way the wind was blowing most of the time. If it is possible how would you do it? It also would be good for a chuckle if M$ ever tried to put a GCA function into a version of FS.

I will go out on a limb here and say I doubt it if that would work. Different file names the way the data is entered and other differances would be reasons as to why it would not work. If it were me I would not even try it as it might cause more problems than what it is worth.

I am beginning to think you are correct Gary. After looking into it further, to do it it does look impossible. I wonder if there is a way to have ATC recognize user directed weather instead. It now seems to follow the default weather. As a test I tried landing at CYWG and all that was changed was wind speed. The default wind direction was 003. ATC then directed me to runway 36 which was the correct runway for the wind. Also when changing wind direction in user defined the default wind heading does not change. In fs9 it also did not but ATC could still recognize the wind change.Perhaps M$ will come up with a fix {dont hold your breath}.

my answer would be to turn down the voice sound, ignore the AI ATC , turn off the AI aircraft , and come and fly on Vatsim ! The Human controllers there will give you the correct runway , 100% of the time. sorry , I could not help myself to say, but...
I have the same problem with the AI atc in fsx. gives nonsenz directions at times. it does however give a good intro to what to expect with real ATC , or , if you like , Vatsim ATC , which I fell is "as real as it gets".
