Yesterday we made our annual march up Fifth Avenue in New York for the Columbus Day Parade. It's never really an enjoyable experience (hot, etc.) but we got a bit more TV time than years past. Two years ago, we accompanied Joe Piscopo singing "New York, New York" on the red carpet at the parade. My sticks and drum got on TV, but I didn't.
Ah well, here's a clip of yesterday from TV. You can't see me here.

And here's one from someone on the street. I'm fourth from the left in the snare line.

Nice. I played the song from the first video in All South Jersey band in 8th grade, fairly annoying song, especially for the tuba, but not as bad as The Royal Fireworks Music.
As for the second... unless I was hearing echoes, which is possible, tell your line to tighten up the rim shots at the beginning of the cadence.

Ugh. Please. Don't remind me. Reason number 38907536507 why I should have been section leader. That kid has zero rhythm. And I mean
zero
. Every time he counted off for the cadence, he was a beat and a half off. Which royally screwed up the rest of the band, which made them step on the wrong foot, which wound up looking terrible.

Heh, tell me about it... Our snare counted us off in about half time to march off the field at one of our practices... do you have ANY idea how hard it is to march at ~60 beats per minute.
Two videos of my band on youtube.

- horrible video, but decent sound. Was at the beginning of our season so we didn't have all the drill memorized yet.

- Us playing Louie Louie. I'm the sousa on the left.
Too bad daily antics at Jazz rehearsal don't get taped, they can be quite amusing.
