Good thing he had that crop-shelter or whatever to hit before he hit the ground... the descent rate of that chute is pretty scary.  Shocked And that creaking... ulp.

I was amazed that he pitched up as that plane passed him, almost guaranteed him hitting the rope, but I guess the glider or whatever was being towed was coming at him from below. The smarter move would be to dive away to the left, but who knows what thought he saw?

He made the right call with the chute, though- probably didn't know what the heck was going on, and knew he had no time to figure it out. Too low.

The rate of climb and pitch angle of the other aircraft I would doubt very much if it had a glider on the rope. I have a fair few aerotows under my belt and that sort of climb would have cause me to break away and have words with the tug pilot afterwards.
