Further to posts in a previous topic, I'd like to get clarification on what Headset connections are required to speak in multiplayer FSX Gamespy. I have a headset with standard plugs to connect to existing inputs in motherboard/sound card but wondered if you really need a headset with a USB connection or not?

What are peoples experiences with headset connections?

Thanks.

I do have a headset to use with Skype, MSN and so on and it's a standard 3.5 mm plug for the mic. So I pressume you don't need an USB plug for FS. Don't see any advantage in it either. It doesn't need to transfer data faster or so....

I have one but the standard are much easier to use.  Setting up the USB is a pain in the butt on some computers.  Took me 2 days to figure it out with the M$ settings and my motherboards standard sound program....  The quality isn't any different, but it is better then some standard plugs. The main issue with me is it takes one of my USB ports  Angry  other then that its nice  Smiley

If you have a PCI Sound Card installed, there should be no problem.

They mostly accept a 3.5mm Speaker/Headphone output plug, and 3.5mm Microphone input plug, and sometimes a Game Joystick/MIDI interface, "D Socket".

A headphone+microphone headset can be obtained very cheaply...£3-£10...Wink...!

I have a Creative Labs, Live 1024 Sound Card installed, which does "everything" for me... Kiss...!

F.... Cool...!
