As you may know, I work for a company that constructs full-scale industrial wastewatertreatment plants.
My pet... the wastewater-treatment plant at my favorite brewery in Belgium. I follow this installation and make changes where needed. She's special to me, because I helped building her and started her up. I've spent countless hours monitoring the central computer and components, changing parameters and testing the facility. We get very good results with it, so I'm pretty proud...
Some mood-shots...
The biologic SBR-reactor... the hart of the plant. Here bacteria clean the wastewater...
The office outside the machinchamber... 6 m high up.
From front to back... the sludge-tank, the buffertank and the biologic reactor...
Just one of the hoists, used to lift the heavy pumps from the tanks.
View from up the controltower... view on the buffertank ( beerodour all day long!
) and the sludgetank. Beeing up here once a day really helped me to fight my vertigo. 6 m high seemed daunting back in the beginning...
Cheers,
Omag

When working with wastewater, there is bound to be some smell... but this one isn't bad at all! It's aerated, so no stench is produced.
Fatremoval-units tend to be a different story, I can assure you that. Especially on a hot day, the collectioncontainers may become a tad smelly...
