The following picture is my entry for the October screenshot contest. You will find an explanation of the various concepts and ideas I used, as well as links to the add-ons I used,

I don't understand. If this shot is to be ripped then it will be done in the October screenshot contest. A suggestion would be to do what PD87 does. Show us a shot that you rejected for the contest. Then we'll be unmerciless

A little more lighting on the plane would have been nice.

I thought that if I made a point of putting it in a rip this, then I'd get some rip-this-style (read harsh but constructive) critique, which you don't tend to get anywhere else.
I'll post some of my rejects later on in this thread, though.

Because you asked..
The mist is by far the best visual element in this pic. Creates a nice mood. I find there's not enough going on, either in the autogen (scenery), the weather (mist excluded) or the aircraft. Drama and visual impact are missing, the aircraft is at a precarious and somewhat unrealistic angle and doesn't show any richness, contrast or crispness in its' coloring. The sun is extremely bright and washes the contrast right out of the pic, as well as creates a difficult spot to look at. The clouds are lifeless and shallow, could use more dimensional effects. I think to summarize, you had a great idea in creating that misty look, but you did it at the expense of everything else. I find I have that tendancy as well, when I see something (one or two) really impressive visual elements in my screenshot, I overlook the rest of the pic. A winning entry has to be top quality from corner to corner. No weak spots as you have here. You were on the right track here, possibly with a little panning, you may have been able to enrich the overall contrast and color definition by getting that sun out of there, or masking it with clouds, or changing the time of day. I hope this "rip" helps a bit, because that is solely what it's intended to do..

What Clipper said.
The piece of default FS ground texture is really bothering me. If that was covered up by a thin piece of fog or something the shout would be great. Also a bit more depth into the plane would be nice.
