The Graphists' Guild

...

Welcome to StudioVs' Graphists' Guild. Here you can display your graphics talents and share your experience and knowledege in Photoshop, Corel Draw, whatever graphics software you enjoy using. As well, there'll be challenging requests from virtual companies asking for a vast array of marketing material, from posters to postcards, web pages, banners, letterheads or business cards. Simply choose the project you'd prefer working on, then show your results here as a reply. Thumbnails or links only of course. Should two or more of you choose the same project, you can request a poll to see which one everyone prefers. Keep in mind that any form of original graphic art is accepted for you to display at the Guild, as long as it's your original work.

Here's the first three requested projects:

1) Oshkosh Airshow called and requested a promotional poster (8.5" x 11") and tag line for the upcoming 2008 Airshow. Create it..

2) The U.S. Air Force e-mailed a request for a recruiting poster (11" x 17"), showing some of their latest, most advanced aircraft. Create it...

3) StudioV Graphists' Guild has expressed interest in having a logo with background (600 pixels x 400 pixels) for their new forum. Create it...

4) FIFA called and asked if we could put to-gether a poster with catch phrase (8.5 x 11) for preliminary advertising for their upcoming World Cup 2010 in Africa..Create it...

5) The manager of Metallica just called in a panic. The group has a 60 city tour coming up in two weeks and they need artwork for the tours' t-shirts..the tour is called Pedal to the Metal...create it

6) NASA contacted us as well and they're looking for a postcard (5" x 7") promoting their upcoming Mission To Mars...create it

Should you have any questions about the Guild and how it operates, please don't hesitate to ask..

fighter25, you don't need a link to a hi rez, but if you really want to show off..go for it. Upload any size, just post here as a clickable thumbnail, or as a link. And thanks Double_Farvel.  Wink

Here's a header I did for an MP idea which eventually never got off the ground. I had fun doing the art anyway....Tropical kind of coloring and relaxed, scriptive fonts. Comments welcome.. Smiley Don't be shy to show some things you've worked on in the past as well..

You guys are just blowing me away. Fighter that's a killer piece of work. I own a printing company and actually do design (with many graphists' help) a variety of publications. I can't believe the originality, composition and visual balance  in these 3 submitted works. We've got to keep this Guild going, build it, get as many people as we can interested. If this beginning is an indication of the quality work to come, I may eventually attempt to contact some of the companies we're doing these renderings for. I'll post 3 more requests that just came in by phone to-morrow. Keep up the great work all, and ask others to join us.  Smiley Little hint...i'm working on an idea that may elevate the visibility and permanency of all SimVs' galleries in a big way, including the one we're setting up here for the Guild...shhh...

im having a cracki at #3

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/jonny_gg3_v1.jpg

im aware that the shadows are a bit messed up on the right hand side, but i cant sort that out until i get the whole thing finished and merged and sort out the indent and things.

i personaly like the concept, and all the fine detail is their, but what about for filler, can anyone give me some suggestions?

also some feedback on my initial idea.

cheers
john

Very cool concept Johnny. Maybe someone else can pull this artwork and add to it. A combined effort. As per suggestions, there's an infinite amount of things to put on that billboard....imagination man...maybe try images in a collage... Picasso, Davinci...aircraft line art, or one large image with a spectrum of colors, how about integratiing this image with some text onto it...http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/starhubble.jpgor one or two words in a wickedly interesting font scrolled across the billboard... "Art Lives" or "Expand Your Mind".."Just Imagine" or maybe "Work In Progress"
The phrase or word should be a strong, clever and original depiction of what the Guild is all about, summarized in a simple catch phrase....c'mon man...let your mind free...get it outside of that box....  Smiley

jonny, that's a very original catch phrase. Very interesting images as well. Sticking with your billboard idea, can you try something like Think Outside The.. then put a pic of a neat looking cardboard box with the flaps open. If we're going to use your billboard as the main header for the Guild, I think it'd be better not to use aircraft, let's try to keep it more general. Scramble Your Mind would be understood by people that are into aviation, if you remember the anti-drug campaign with the eggs..."Here's your brain..here's your brain on drugs" (then there was a pic of eggs scrambling). I think your approach here might be too similar and might give some people a negative impression. What do you think?  Smiley

Getting really close, #2 is a bomb! If I may suggest changing the font as it's really difficult to read, especially the word think. You might want to make  that word bigger than the others as well..maybe the word outside as well. Maybe a pic of "outside" as a background, or coming out of the box as a vapour.. somehow integrate it into the billboard. C'mon jonny, think outside the box man.. Smiley

i will change the font, as you are the second person to say that.

as for incorporating a picture of outside into it, its not realy in tone with the mood im aiming for. and i feel it would make the image to complicated.
i will change the font and re-upload.

I thought Graphists Guild would be more suitable as a regular featured event, not a permanent ongoing "sticky"

Some very good stuff in here, great ideas and concepts, my glass Staropramen Black is tasting good, and I can't believe that I didn't like Kid A last time I heard it, playing it for the first time since rejecting it a few years back, and it rocks.... Shocked
