I'll probably get ridiculed for this question, but what is the aircraft in the first shot?  I recognize it but I can't place it.  Its a really nice photo though.

I also really like the Mustang pic!

Gosh, I think the light reflecting off the fuselage made it look bigger than that...but now that I think about it it is obvious.  I have never seen one in that livery before though...but I love the pre-war symbols and polished exterior.  Although, since it is a military variant...wouldn't it technically be a C-47?

Looks like a grown up twin engined Mmmmmiles Messenger... Grin Certainly a Messengeresque colour scheme. Smiley A bit of a Beech to identify though...

I just noticed this, there is a grasshopper in the second shot, on the plane.
