Just got back from the Kid's Day at LGA today. It's a sort-of open house where some airlines that serve the airport bring in some of the planes they use to open to the public. The military also brings in some cool stuff. It's completely free to get in (you don't even need to pay for parking!) and they serve free food and refreshments. You can't beat it! So I made the solo trek across midtown to get there. Frightening, to say the least.
A great day, in my opinion.
AA Super-80.
US Airways heritage "Piedmont" scheme A319.
New York Air National Guard LC-130, just back from Antarctic Research Station McMurdo, according to the pilot.
Dummy rockets (shucks).
Navy Beech 350.
That's all for now. I'm beat.

Never heard of it either... and it's so fairly close to me! (I live near the South-Central coast of Connecticut, right near New Haven). Not a proper "Air show", but it'd still be nice getting that close to a C-130

The first one really caught my eye. I never thought a Dash 80 would be so big.

Now that's a fantastic idea. Shame more airports don't do something similar.
Excellent photos James.

An MD-80 in a hurry?

Sadly having heard some stories of how even aircrew are treated by airport security in the UK, I doubt it could happen...

They do. This is the first year I've gone, though.
Sorry, I should have made an announcement about this! I found out about it at another forum I frequent, NYCAviation.com.

I'll post more shots soon.
