My Traffic X - I am Truly STUNNED!!! (Read 579 times)

I read up on the reviews of My Traffic X, of how easy it was to install, and all you had to do was press one button and all. Well, my CD/DVD came in today and the installations were easy. I just clicked all the appropriate places and it did it's thing. In fact I loaded the 2006 version into FS9 and the X into FSX inside 15 minutes. Then, I decide that I would check out FS9 first. So I picked the default airport, Seattle-Tacoma, good, big, probably 500+ acreos of airport and I picked a large GA ramp because that's all that's available at that airport on FS9. I clicked "Fly Now", it loaded and there was... my 172 was sitting at it's parking spot with engine running, I tuned the radio to the ground freq first and began to pan around to the right and there was a box truck sitting at my two o'clock position. The radio freq is still silent, so I figured I'd give it a minute and scrolled through the different views. I got to tower view and panned all the way back, and... nothing. So scrolled to the outside view of the aircraft zoomed all the way out and panned around - there was one Cherokee 180 flying about eight miles out in a westerly direction,... that was it, My Cessna 172, a box truck, and a 180 flying by way in the distance... FSX was the same way...uuuhh... Anybody else have this problem?

All those traffic packages aren't worth it if you want decent traffic...Research on how to make your own AI...Trust me, it's alot better to see higher quality AI models flying around than seeing a box on wheels...
As for your problem, try cranking up the Traffic Density to 90%...See if that helps

I have MTX and it works fine.
It doesn't look like yours has installed at all. Make sure you've specified which traffic era you want and like the other reply make sure your traffic levels are both at least 30%.
But I think it's worth getting a payware traffic add-on. You can create your own with better quality models but you'll need a very, very high spec PC to have more than 5 or 6 of them around you. Yeh, if you get close up to the AI models in MTX they don't look too good but from 100 yards away or more they're just fine and there's nothing like taxiing at LAX, JFK or ATL with realistic traffic around you.

Okay, I uninstalled FSX, SP1 and other related base programs included (.Net Frameworks, etc...) and started all over again. I re-installed the base programs, FSX, SP1 and MTX. Now I am impressed
. I did have quite a few AI packages installed and I have always kept my traffic settings at 100% for both commercial and GA traffic. Would that have caused MTX to do something like that?
Ashar, I have quickly come to the same conclusion. I bought FS9 along with the CH Pro yoke and rudder system when they first came out, but I didn't get serious about simming until a year and half ago. My girlfriend actually found Simviation for me and got me a subscription for my birthday last year. The only other payware I got was HTAI's Cessna package for $15 about 5 months ago. It was THE BEST $15 I've spent on payware besides SimV, of course. I had only used freeware up until about six weeks ago. I got all my bills paid and I figured I'd treat myself to some payware products - I Have been quite disappointed though. I think between SimV and UGA, one can really get a lot more variety and more than enough AI traffic flying around. I am still trying to learn to make my own flight plans, progress is slow , but I am progressing inch by slippery inch. I think I'm done with payware for quite awhile now. Semper Fi, Dave

I've never understood why people pay for these traffic addons, when there's perfectly good freeware alternatives, for just about every airline you can think of. And with Military AI Works about, most of your military traffic needs will be catered for sooner or later!

That's not true at all...With my laptop, I get 21FPS+ with Aerosoft's Heathrow and 100% traffic...And my traffic is all pretty high quality...Oh and 5 or 6 is nothing..I've had 50+ aircraft in one frame and still had acceptable FPS...Oh and my Sim is maxed out...

Try running that on a
Geforce 4 MX
Geforce 2 card
.
There's people on both side of the fence when it comes to payware vs. freeware. I personally feel that I bought the sim, I'm not going to pay for the content. I mean, if somebody could convince me to buy something, i would, but only PMDG has managed. PAI, WAI, MAIW, AIA all kick ANY payware AI package's hind. High quality, low frame hits (relatively
), and GREAT looks.
Then again, payware
generally
has better (and SAFER) install systems. plus, you get support if you get into hot water (most of the time).
On a side note, the only way I have learned what I know about computers is by installing addons and fixing problems caused by FS9!
I'm tired, I needed to monologue for a bit.

Ashar - what AI aircraft are you using then? I find it hard to believe you have over 50 high quality aircraft (as good as the default FSX/FS9 aircraft) all running around Heathrow at the same time, unless you're using NASA's computers!
Yeh, creating your own AI aircraft is cheaper but it takes a lot of time if you want the variety and comprehensiveness that add-ons give you. And My Traffic X (as an example) is only £15 ($30). Hardly a huge outlay!
That's my view

50 low poly aircraft. And a well made 5k poly aircraft can look quite pretty!

"I Am Truly STUNNED!"
Well I am not. It removed SEVERAL runways at KEDW. The runways at Dover AFB and McGuire (stop me from flying the C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster "respectively" will ya?) did not display properly. The models were worse than the Just Flight offering. The update which fixes several things is NOT FREE. So how can one be stunned with all this? There were even more runways that were bugged! This is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR A PRODUCT BEING SOLD FOR MONEY!

Well, I'm back to stunned again, although less stunned than I was the first time. Now I only have my Cessna 172 at KSEA - no box trucks, radios are dead silent, no other planes on the tarmac or in the air. hmmmm...
