JUDGE'S CHOICE JET RANGER

...

A new judge takes the helm!! … and the subject of this week’s comp is:

“Runway Shots”

...

Jet Ranger defines the comp, short n’ sweet:

This is all about runway shots. The rules are: the plane must either be taking off or landing, and must be on or VERY close, and I mean very, to the ground, no more than a few feet in the air.

THIS WEEK'S RULES

1. To reiterate – an aircraft just above or on the runway, taking off or landing…

2. There can be payware or freeware in the shots, FS any version.  As usual, editing is allowed but no composites.

3. You nominate one shot only, as a thumbnail of about 5 kb. IT CAN BE AN OLD SHOT if you don’t have time to create something especially for the comp, though original entries are encouraged….  Post it in this thread, below.

DEADLINE for submission of shots is 8 PM GMT on SATURDAY.

DEADLINE FOR JUDGE TO INFORM KRIGL: any time SATURDAY NIGHT. Please don’t forget – it’s YOUR comp after all!!!

The winner will be announced Sunday evening.

THE WINNER IS THE NEXT JUDGE!

And, your winning shot goes into the Personal Portfolios!

...

4. The winner should decide on the next competition, and, by MONDAY NIGHT 8:00 GMT, send KRIGL one pic plus a short text to describe the competition and what they are looking for. Also send another couple of your best shots.

We will start the new competition on Monday night, so people have 5 evenings to produce their entries.

5. This is for fun, so just post whatever seems to you to fit the rules. In the spirit of StudioV, we're all aviation and aviation screenie fans, and friends, and so just about everything goes. Rules are secondary, and no questions needed.

It might be an idea to check out our Judge's work, see what he likes....

TWO 'IMPORTANT' NOTES

A. The main point is that you get to be the judge – but the winning shot will extend your portfolio….

B. If people don’t meet the dead-lines, don’t be surprised if Krigl makes the choices or even the competition for you. Studio V must ‘run on time’….  Sorry to be evil about this but it’s for the greater good, as it were.

...

Supermodels look good on the runway…. How good can  you make those planes of  yours look??

Thanks! No, I don't think I'm too low...I've just lifted off the ground...The rules say that I have to be close to or on the ground...I think I qualify Wink Wink

You've mis understood me i wasnt saying he wasn't within the guidelines i thought he was landing and he was a bit low over the water for the landing nothing wrong with the picture! But he was taking off so know i understand why he was low

White text FTW!!!
Cool Cool Cheesy

OK, i see it now Layne: There is no such thing as "too low" in this comp. The limit is the ground, and who in their right mind would fly UNDER the ground? Grin Grin Grin

The runway IS visible, by the way, albeit barely (be thanking the Gods of Microsoft for runway lights, Ashar Wink), so it qualifies. Wink

Here is my entry, a Malaysian 747-400 rotating at Heathrow in poor weather conditions

Nice paint job!

My entry is Heathrow too. Great minds think alike Cool

I've saved it as a select a flight because the weather is really nasty! Probably the worst I've flown in.

Are you referring to the Delta shot?

I've had a Lancastarian II that did that.

Different, though I did say runway I did not really say airport. You are close to the ground at an area specified for aircraft landing, so I will accept it. Nice shot, by the way. Wink

Glad you like the shot but i'm not sure what you mean. You can see the runway and the fact that the rear wheels are still on it, did I miss something? By their very nature, it would be difficult to find a runway without an airport!

Here's how to do the thumbnail thingy Wink

Clipper wrote on Jan 27th, 2007 at 6:57am:
Here's how to make your own clickable thumbnails!

1) Take a big pic... 800 x 600, save it
2) Make a small pic, say 120 x 90 from your big pic, save it.
3) Give each pic a different name, say for example biggie for the big one, and biggiethumb for the small one.
4) Upload both the small and the large pic.
5) Type the following two lines exactly as you see them here into your new thread.
6) See the two question marks in the two rows just above? Replace them with the two names of the pics you just uploaded, biggie in the first line and biggiethumb in the second. The thumbnail sized pic is always in the second line.
7) Hit "post", or "preview" first if you want to make sure it's o.k.
8) That's it, you've now created and posted your clickable thumbnail!

I love the sky and runway in your shot, and since it is a default AC/livery, a darker shot may be better lol Grin Tongue

I've made my choice for top three.

Choosing a winner, though, will be VERY difficult out of the three.

And no, I will not tell you now.

Since I'm 6 hours behind you, I figured that 2:00pm my time would be 8:00pm GMT.

I confirmed that through http://www.gchart.com/

Good luck to all.

Not really, I was monitering and judging gradually the entire week. Tongue

Besides, I chose the screenies based on my personal tastes, and the winners chosen were the ones that really jumped out to me and said "Look at meeeeeeeee!!!"

Never a dull moment. Cheesy
