Whist surfing I came across the following site. www.simviation.de Whist it is very basic site (more a search site), it still uses the SimV name. Is that legal, just bad form/manners or is it OK. I have no idea about internet law and and just wondered because if you opened a burger stand and called it "Mac Donalds", you would be coverding law suits up to your eyeballs.

My understanding is these are place holders till someone buys the domain. I might be wrong though.

Just people using the name for Google ads I suspect .... there are organisations out there who register any site name & all they contain is a google ad - so when people go there they see 'content' - a google ad - must make money when you have say 1000 site names ....

It's not something that would bother me - what DID bother me is when our name 'simaviation.com' was stolen because I registered it with a cheap outfit who I think sold it on before it had expired. Turned out they were registered in the carribean islands & there was zilch I could do about it. Never again ...

Some people have trouble with our name (like you Matt ..  Cheesy ) & 'simaviation' was an easier method in the early days ..

simviation.fr/de/ -- doesn't bother me in fact it's sweet of them to bother ...  Tongue

-- thanks Smiley

I was just idly curious about the whole thing. Thanks for the answers.
