RAAF is getting that mini C-130 (forgot the name Grin ) as a replacment of the caribou

The pic there is a Transall. I'd be very surprised if the RAAF were buying them as they are somewhat ancient and AFAIK out of production.

Having just checked, the RAAF appear to be buying the C-27, a development from the Italian G-222.

Yeah the C-27 Cheesy but the Caribou was in action back in vietnam Smiley so we have to get rid of it but you gotta say it was one very geniuse aircraft!!! Wink The aircraft pulled of a wicked display! Well both of them did!!!

Nah, we are only considering buying it. Surprisingly, the US is buying the Spartan too. I think the A400 looks like a better investment to be honest..

Ah, OK, I wasn't 100% sure whether it was confirmed or not against the CN235 etc...

The Lockheed Martin/Alenia C-27 Spartan...

...therein lies the answer. They probably wanted it delivered on time too (A400 slipping already, and they've got to be delivered to the launch customers first - an if the UK government considers selling the RAF to other nations slots they need heads examining, or to buy some C-17s!)
