Hey all, I purchased Abacus's Flight Deck 4 add-on today from Fry's for use with FS2004. I installed it and only have had problem after problem with it.
-it causes FS2004 to crash a lot
-my SH-60 spins uncontrollably whenever I add or reduce power (that might just be me
though, but it seems more than torque, and counter-active rudder control seems to only make it worse)
-Planes, E-2 in particular don't respond well to the throttle
-My plane just goes through the deck when attempting to land
-the flight models aren't at all like they are described by the reviews
I don't understand why I have these problems, because none of the reviews mention anything at all similar to these things. I am a little concerned that I have just wasted $30 and any advice or tips as to why these things are happening are more than appreciated. My system meets + exceeds all the requirements but yet the game just doesn't work. Please help to shed some light on my problem if you can.
Thank You,
Joberrick

None of the reviews mentioned anything like that because they didn't happen to the reviewers. As a member of the FD4 test team, I did have some glitches in some of the beta releases, but they were identified and corrected before release.
Flight Deck 4 is one of Abacus' best sellers, and problems like yours are not the norm. I seriously suggest that you e-mail Abacus Tech Support on this - presuming you did get FD4 from a reputable outlet.

I refrain from saying what I'd like to say in response to your comment.
Sufffice it to say that your statement also casts a shadow on the independent developers and testers.
Having been involved with testing many of Abacus' packages, I can say that most of the problems encountered by people are either hardware/driver issues, conlficts with other things running, or even, lack of reading the enclosed documentation (*my major problem*)
But hey, I'm not trustworthy, so why should you trust what I write?

Thank You, that is a good idea and I will go ahead and send an e-mail and hope that, that will help. As for the retailer, I purchased it from a local Fry's Electronic Store. Also, I am sorry if I offended you in any way Felix, I had no intention to. I am just a little disappointed because of all of the bugs I seem to have right now. So once again sorry for any misrepresentation and thank you for your advice.
Thanks again,
Joberrick

I know it's not nice to knock a particular developer but I have also had bad experiences with Abacus products, not only with installing but with general poor quality of the aircraft and therefore will not be purchasing any more in future. Instead I will stick with developers that produce reliable, quality aircraft.
If you check you will see plenty of other posts from users not happy with Abacus.
I think it's important for developers like Abacus to read posts on this site about their products (yes I know some of them are from people who can't read the manual) but a regular reader of posts here will soon find out which are the best and worst payware add-ons.

Layne, you must understand, Abacus are not a team of twelve people sitting in one office making add-ons. Each add-on, is individually designed, and as such, the quality goes up and down all the time. I find FSDS and the later Flight Deck add-ons to be excellent. You are just blindly hating Abacus with no (apparent reason).
Joberrick, make sure you're fuel is under about, 30% before landing. Should stop you from falling through the deck.

Well, considering that the F6F Hellcat in WW2 Carrier Ops is my basic model.....
Of course, now that you know that, you will agree that that is the absolute best Hellcat model ever released for any flightsim version, right?
