Hi all,

I just installed Flight Sim X (Deluxe Ed) on my Vista system.  One thing that I noticed is that there is no FSX icon on the desktop (I chose this option) and there is no Flight Sim folder in the Programs section of the Start menu.  Has anyone else had this happen?  Any known fix for this?  The icon is not a big deal, I am more concerned with the missing folder in the Start menu.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Go to the Games Explorer off the Start Menu. Per Windows Vista logo rules, icons on the desktop are not allowed anymore and games dont get their own folders they go in the Games Explorer.

Strange, I have delux too and I have a FSX icon on the desktop. It did not install it there automatically.

I had to go to the root folder and place a copy of the exe file onto my desktop. It works fine too.

Of course it does, you placed a shortcut there.  But, by default it is not placed there, you did it manually and overrode the instruction, thats all.

Exactly, the rules prohibit the installation program from doing this, but nothing prevents a user from doing this themselves.

Vista has much tougher security protocols, so I suggest strongly to those with the new OS installed not only to make use of the on-line Help, which is good, but also buy one of the many user guides now on the market.

For me the Dummies Guide to Vista was my obvious choice!!!

It gets even worst when one has to edit .cfg files. My system at first did not allow me to save edits made on .cfg files within the program files folder.

Thanx for cut,copy and paste....
