Im not sure if i should boolean a hole most of the way through or just have a small pit. Or if thats even the way to do it.

Also the tail pipes, what is the animation or is it a xml thing.

What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....&&&&&&&&&&                        The GMax effect... The GMax effect

If you mean the afterburnners used on some models (Kirk Olson's F-16 for instance) those are effects controlled by a gauge in the panel that responds to the engine.

If you mean the opening and closing of the cowlings around the engine exhaust, that is usually mapped to the throttle setting.  Label them something like "Lever_Throttle0_part1" or something, and animate it.

An idea...try to get ahold of a Hasegawa/Minicraft kit (they are on ebay for reasonable prices). I had one long ago and recall it had some pretty delicate detailing with regard to the landing gear.
