So I thought to myself, why not start from the default Airport for flying and go from there? So I took these over KSEA. As I wasn't quite sure what you may want out of the shot(s) so I took a couple at different times of day in the same area. I also played with the weather a bit. I had a clear day shot but the image got corrupted. The scenery is Ultimate Terrain USA over Seattle, WA. Also used was Flight Environment. I was quite pleased with the moons reflection in the night shot I provided. The shots were taken give or take at an altitude of around 28-30 thousand feet from my POSKY 737-800. It has no virtual cockpit so this works out well so as not to include an AC in the shots. They may not be Simworld material, but I do enjoy a theme I can apply myself to versus just posting shots to post them. Comments welcome and I hope you like them.
DAY

NIGHT
Compression really took it's toll on these. I kept the originals though if anybody wants to see them.

I think the first is perfect for starting us off in Simworld. The others are somewhat dark, but starting with KSEA is a natural. Nicely done.
P.S. Please create a clickable thumbnail 110 x 110 of shot #1 and post it here. Ask if you're not sure how.

Ya got me. I don't know how. Never did a thumbnail before. The sooner I know how, the faster I'll set pic 1 up for you Clipper! Thanks! BTW. So I know for my next scenery shot, Your looking for more or less daytime shots for Simworld? If so that will keep me from wasting my time on other times of day and can start bouncing around the US taking shots. I don't have any mesh for Europe yet. Just UT USA, Canada, and Alaska for now. But thats plenty of ground for me to cover

Not exclusively day shots, but if you shoot at dawn, dusk or night, the scenery should be very visible. Vegas at dawn might work for example...

Nice shot! Great sky and water colours with the reflection. Only thing I don't like is the terrain looks flat, there isn't enough light to define the ridges.

Try reducing the overall image by 20-25 percent at 90 in Irfanview, then resave it. When there's a lot of detail in the scenery, and you're showing a large area, it will usually be a heavy file.

This is Grand Case airport (TFFG) Located in the Netherlands Antilles right next to TNCM. A great place to catch a nice sunrise or sunset mainly intended for general aviation but i landed my 737-800 on it using most of the runway.

Well I think I got the thumbnail part to work but not sure why the big one shows up in mine and it doesn't seem to in anyone elses. I'm scared to delete anything in my post at this time because this is the 11-12th time trying to get it right and every time I have to rename my shots for the upload which gets quite frustrating after the first 2-3 times. Anyway, I hope you like it........

Where's the Hulas and coconuts?, great pic! Simworld bound....Jetmech, I tried to make it easy for you.
I understand your frustration. Initially, I was ready to pull my hair out trying to create thumbnails. But keep at it, from the looks of it you're shots will be very well received and appreciated in Simworld...

Brilliant lighting. That mesh has been a staple add-on of mine for a long time. It's unquestionably the best freeware mesh anywhere, anytime. Another solid contribution to SIMWORLD Ben. Keep it up!

Another great shot Ben, but try to shoot more specific places, as we want SIMWORLD to be an atlas where people can look up a pic in Simworld and get right to that location. Keep up the good screenshooting!

In case nobody noticed, I love Hawaii.
Shots #1-2 are above the Forbidden Island of Niihau, S/W of Kauai.
Shot #3 is a coastline of Kauai at dusk.
Shot #4 is an aerial view of both Kauai and Niihau
Scenery for Niihau can be found on AVSIM, and Kauai is Default.

Both typically brilliant K. The first though is somewhat aircraft heavy, and could use a more defined scenery area. Second is an all-Simworld pic for sure...

Cheers for the feedback Danny - I'll slap the second picture in Simworld then.
Re the first: the Netherlands is one big flat area with water channels... I did my best lol. The city ahead is Rotterdam. Maybe some of our Dutch members can find a better spot with their local knowledge....
I'm going to try some of the less represented continents for my next effort...

Still nice shots Roger, however when I think of Rotterdam I think about the biggest seaport in the world ...

Nice one Harold....go for it. Rotterdam was just where I happened to be when looking for a nice spot.... it extends a fair way inland, according to my autoatlas of Europe
Yeah, I could do some Australian ones I suppose Clip
Or even find a couple to kick things off.

I think you should go with the Melbourne shot (only time you will ever here this from me - Sydney all the way). They are all pretty good, but the Melbourne one is the best composed. The plane adds to it, but it is not the focal point of the shot. The boat is in the...same boat as the plane!
The graphics are lovely, and it showcases lush green parks, residential and commercial areas. The water is very nice, perhaps superseding the FSX drink.
Shot number two is my second favourite. The plane is more of the focus than shot one, but not by much. The deep, natural green is nice, but overall, the shot feels a bit empty.
Shot three is my third favourite. The sky colour is very nice, and so is the terrain. The trees are well layed out. The ground texture however, is not as good as the rest.
And shot four, ties with shot three. The airplane is heavily relied on, yet I think the plane and livery has been well chosen in this case, so it doesn't really detract. The sky, and weather, is really nice, and so is the ground. However, I think this shot is too, a bit lacking.
Thats my (perhaps, a little too harsh...sorry) analysis of these fine pictures.

Thanks for the feedback - I'll put the first three in then, I think, if we're going with 'not dominant planes'. No1 is definitely one of my faves...

Here's the first image of my Simworld series for the Netherlands.
Besides our obvious red light district and legal marihuana, there are some other things that we Dutch are famous for.
One of them is a large number of constructions built between 1950 and 1997 in the province of Zeeland in the southwest
of the Netherlands to protect a large area of land from the sea. The constructions consist of dams, sluices, locks, dikes and
storm surge barriers. The aim of the dams, sluices and storm surge barriers was to shorten the Dutch coastline and limit
the amount of dikes that were to be heightened.
The American Society of Civil Engineers has declared the works to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
