Had another lesson in the Champ yesterday- no inflight pics (kinda busy), but here's a few from my visit to EAA Chapter 14 HQ on the field.
First a look to the east just before my flight:
Afterwards I followed Bob down to the other end of the field where Chapter 14 was having a little lunch get-together. Some unusual weather lately- a line of huge cumuli battling to get over the mountains about 10 miles to the east. Still very hot and dry between there and the coast, though.
They've got a nice little setup here... that's the hangar where we had lunch and I met and spoke with some more old-timers. We coaxed some Navy flying stories out of Bob that were very interesting.
How sad... this Champ was badly ground-looped, damaging both wing spars and twisting the fuselage. Not sure what will happen to her now.
The outlook is brighter for the small collection housed in the chapter's other hangar... love this old Cessna. And that is a Heath Parasol hanging overhead...
And how about this Taylor? Not too many of these flying anymore.
There's even a fleet of excellent airplane pedal-cars for the little ones...

Yeah, it's a rental. I was supposed to get a Taurus, but I got the free upgrade. It's fun to drive, but Jesus it swills gas!!
