Sorry i am getting a bit confused with these downloads for aircraft, textures etc.
1 what does Ai Aircraft mean
2 How do i know if the download is complete plane or not
3 also when they say repaint, is that a repaint of a plane that you already have in FSX or does it mean you will now have 2 planes of the same type but with different designs.
4 What does panels mean.
5 do all FS2004 downloads work in FSX

I apoliguise for the questions in advance but i am a bit thick. lol

1) Artificial Inteligent ,its used for air traffic control, and planes flying in the air space.

2)there's has to be 5 things
A: the model folder;wich should have an Mdl file and a cfg file
B:texture file:at least one or many more folders having all the textures of the plane..
C:Sound folder :it has to have a list of many sounds of the plane include a sound.cfg file, some planes uses other sounds and will only appears a cfg file using "Alias=x"
D: Panel folder: It would have things as a bmp ,panel.cfg(very important BTW)and the files *.Gau ,wich are the gauges ..
E: Aircraft.cfg its a very important file
F: and an *. air file like "cesnna.air"

3)repaint is a diferent Paint of the plane, for example you can find many repaints of the default FSX model b737-800 (Not in the game) by downloading it ,you'll download the textures in a new folder to be place it in the 737 folder ,then you have to assing in the aircraft.cfg this new texture ,for example american airlines textures..Is not two planes with diferent desighns ,Its the same plane with a diferent Paint..

4) Panels its a standard and the old common way to see the intruments as if you were in a real plane ,all of the FSX model has it its just a 2d view of the intruments, and VC its and entire view of a cockpit with the instrument and everything

5)in theory all should work, but inside of every aicraft are litle softwares like the Gauges and many are not compatible with it ,you may be able to see the plane but sometimes Gauges used for FS2002 ,Used in FS2004 are incompatible in the FSX,
also some textures wont show too well in some aircraft (Including some freeware FS2004 Citation X, wich need to be remapped Roll Eyes..lol)

You don't need to apologize at all, I sugest you to read some of the read me files in all the add-on planes (the ones you download should have it) you can learn by reading them..

Cheers

On some sites, you can mate. Wink You seem new to Flight Simulator and the vast world of add-ons, so I will list some sites (without bleeping - Pete, remove this if it is not allowed) that allow you to do this: avsim.com and flightsim.com.

Well then, keep your cool (ehehehe) at first. It may seem a bit overwhelming, but soon, you will have it down in memory, and you won't be asking how to add repaints. You will be modifying entire fleets of aircraft. Wink

Don't go too crazy on the add ons right away. First it's best to work up some flying skills and knowledge. That can be easily done with the default airplanes and/or one or two add on airplanes that really strike your fancy. Just stay away from highly complex stuff and hard to fly airplanes. It's much easier to learn with the default or a simple piston engined airplane before trying to tackle the harder to fly turboprops and jets. I think trying to jump right into the airliners is the most common mistake newbies make in MSFS. Take the lessons but don't expect them to be bug free. The skills and techniques are the important thing to pick up. If you do that you will be surprised at how fast you will advamce.
