OK, after loading CFS2, after a long hiatus, to help Harley88 with his Sink the Bismark mission I now find myself once again adding campaigns and planes to the sim. Hey gotta fill the HD with something, right? Grin
Anyhoo, I found this nice little P-40B on the SimV sight and put in my a/c folder-yippee. Cheesy Problem is it's too little, as in tiny. I remember a resizing/scaling utility for CFS1 that would correct this, but was there ever a similar utility made for CFS2? Or will the the CFS1 version perchance work in CFS2?

This was a bug with AI aircraft in CFS1 only. No rescaling should be necessary in CFS2.

Thanks for responding Doug. This is a flyable aircraft, however it looks like it may be a CFS1 conversion. It's the CFS2 AVG Tomahawk II flown  by Chuck Older with visuals and flight model from Jamie Biscup and Bruce Thorson. It shows up about 1/2 to 1/3 the size of other aircraft in the list and on the runway.

It shouldn't matter if it was originally intended for CFS1. I'll check it out if I can find it but I don't remember a problem with the scale on this aircraft.

PS. Bill Potvin's SetscaleW utility should work on CFS1 aircraft used in CFS2 but I repeat - this should not be necessary.

Edit: I finally found this aircraft on another site. Think I see the problem. This is an early FSDS1 aircraft & the visual model appears too small in the Free Flight preview window. To correct this download Tcdfsview here. http://www.simviation.com/fs2000utilities_ess2.htm
Run the P-40B MDL file through Tcdfsview & set the Zoom value at 7. That should be about right for a single-engined fighter.

You might also need to patch these older models with the MDL Converter tool for external weapons to display correctly. Leave it on the default setting. Do NOT use the Optimize Graphics option.

It would be better if you can find a later version of the P-40B created with FSDS2 or Gmax.

Thanks again Doug. I'll try that. I've already been using MDL Converter on previous 3rd party aircraft. I only had this plane because Yoshi's AVG campaigns called for it, but I'm starting to think it would have been easier to edit the .mis files, all 40 or so, for another P-40.  Cheesy
I also remembered SetscaleW from my CFS1 days. Tried it on this aircraft with bad results. Grin

Just to clarify.

The MDL Converter is usually necessary only for FS98/CFS1/FS2000 aircraft (created with AF99 or FSDS1) when being converted for use in CFS2. Most CFS2 aircraft will already be converted. The P-40B was intended for CFS2 & already has external weapons in the DP which display properly.

Setscale will only work on third party FS98/CFS1 aircraft created with Flight Shop/AF99.

Tcdfsview is a very handy little utility. It not only corrects the size of the model in the preview window but also fixes the Collision Bubble problem with early 3rd party aircraft in CFS2. It is not necessary for FSDS2 or Gmax aircraft. Many CFS2 aircraft that need it have already been 'Tcdfsview patched' before posting.
