Charlie, I don't think any suggestion can be deemed ridiculous if it's well intentioned. 

Ok how are the Uk and USA not democracies. You will find we have the freedom of speech, to vote, too own a gun(america only), and many other things you all take for granted as you live in a democracy you feel is not very democratic.

We will have democratic elections, and will keep on having democratic elections...

Until the electorate get it right.

IMO, being a mod is about maturity.  Not maturity as in you never screw around, but as in being able to do little things like take responsibility for your actions, and admit when you're wrong.  I hate it when I have to move a thread or suggest to a member that his behavior is in appropriate somehow, but I do it anyway.  I do like to look beyond a person's one screwup and see a well-intentioned guy who wants to help but may not have thought out his response as well as he should.  If you're on a power trip and want to do this job just so you can ban people or lord it over others, then forget it, because you will suck at it.

Being a mod on this forum is one of the ways I give back to the FS world.  I've made a couple of sceneries, built a few airports, made one or two utilities, but that's not really much.  I am terrible at making airplanes.  If someone wants to work with me one on one, I might get it off the ground, but so far, I suck at it.  So I give where I can.  There are certainly people out there who know more about FS than I do.  But I have been around a LONG time and have figured out that it's not about how much you know; it's about how you treat people and your ability to work out problems on your own.

If you want the job, I think the best thing you can do is put your time in on the forums, earn your licks, and let Pete know about it and accept whatever decision he makes.

Thanks, Doug, that's what I was aiming at.   A "democracy" where the citizens vote on ALL actions is unmanageable in other than VERY small groups.   If you don't have a "democracy" in a development's homeowners association, you can't expect it in a country!
