This is my little series about the A-7 Corsair II repaints.

Something General:
For all of my repaints of the Sluff, im using Adobe Photoshop CS2, Corel Draw X3 and DXTBmp.

Now to the important thing. The repaints!
The model i want to do is this pretty Sluff
...

As the artwork pattern I used this one here. But i want to do all what is blue here in a dark green.
...

This is my status now:
I done the grey paints, now im beginning to make the eagle.
...

After the Eagle is ready vectorized, im setting myself on the basic stencils.
Hope you are enyoing my little Series in further time Wink.

Regards from Germany,
Ruffy

How do you get the eagle so crisp, without jagged edges?  I definitely like the crisp, sharp look of the logo and the rest of the artwork.

At first, i vectorized the Eagle in Corel. Then i exported the file to an *.psd file with the point, that white is transparent. Then i take Adobe and open the Eagle, and copy it into the Repaint-File.

But know you will ask you how I get white into the repaint? It's easy: All of my files are in the CMYK Colors ( Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black). When i want to export white, then ill give only 1% black into the white, because corel dont think it is white any more, its another color.

Hope this answerd your question, Felix (when i understood here right Grin)

Hope you can understand it, i dont know how to explain it better Wink

When if more time this evenig, i will do this Corsair

Will see what i want Cheesy

Thanks for the explanation.... I'll go try it.

Hmmmm - I don't think you'll stop until you've repainted every A-7 ever painted...  Wink

Congrats on a job well done Cool

I'm understandably curious: How much time did you put into doing that repaint?

Fear not, I know how to fix that. Its usually because the title of an aircraft in the cfg file has been changed, or removed.

On your computer, browse to:

C:\Documents and Settings\*your username*\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files\

Find the flight (*.flt) you have set as defaut, and either delete it (easier), or edit the aircraft its trying to load as follows (takes longer but means you dont loose your saved flight):

Open the .flt in notepad (or similar), and find the following line:

[Plane.0]
Aircraft=XXXX

Open the aircraft.cfg of the aircraft you want to load up, and copy the 'title' from there, into the 'aircraft' from the flight file.

Mine looks like
Aircraft=T-6 Proto

Save the flight file and it should load up fine.

Thanks, it works now, but some very bad news:

My father deleted the A-7 Folder with all repaints ive done, and the he deleted the bin, because he was cleaning his computer. I said him that he had deleted the Repaints, he looked very  excusing...

So, im trying to get an Un-Delet Programm, that i can rebuild the folder. The i will finish the Sidewinders and Marauders and uploading the Package.

Ruffy,

They look nice....better than mine in most aspects.   I was an actual member of that squadron from 1980-1984. If you want an actual representation of the correct CAG paint scheme, you can download my iris repaints and use them as a guide if you wish :

http://www.simviation.com/members/fscommercial38.htm

I am glad there are other SLUFF fans out there!

Oh, and Ruffy, the sig you have is labeled an A-7D....The A-7D was only flown by the USAF.  The pic in your sig is an A-7E from VA-113

So, some news.

The last weeks were very busy (school, girlffriend...this stuff, you know) and i started a new rapint. It's a Corsair from 76th TFS

...

I think this is looking realy nice!

Will start today and i will make a lot of them ready in the following weekend, because I'm at one of the biggest model jet exhibiton of the world, called "Jet Power" in near of Cologne. So, I've much time to make the last 4 ready, after I will upload them. But first, i will start on the paint of the SEA Scheme.

News from the "Corsair-Painting-Center" Wink

Im now in the Late 80th/Begin of 90th. This Corsair flew in the First Gulf war in the Sqaudron VA-46 "Clansmen". It has Low-Res Markings (means Grey, Black or White). The High Res (colored) Markings are just for me to know, where i should place the low-res ones.

Here are Pics. The fin is nearly finished. I just must turn the VA-46 Clansmen a bit.

...

But now a question to some other repainter:
When i loading the Plane, and i take a look from outside, the textures are sometimes grainy (or pixelated, fuzzy). Somebody has a solution?

Fine repainting Sir!

I see you're doing it the same way as I do, stick to just a few models.
Once you really understand the textures, it becomes very easy doing new ones, right?
Great stuff, keep it up!
