I'm using a 21 inch monitor @ 1600X1200 res. (32bit color with a refresh rate of 75hz.) The problem is that when I take a screen shot, it's almost always more than 500K before resizing.(even after I shrink it to BELOW the 800 pixel width, it's still usually more than 200K) I've tried all different resolutions and color depths, but that didn't make much difference. I would love to be able to enter the screenshot contests, or even just to post some of my nicer shots, but I just can't. Can anyone help? Oh yeah, if it matters, I'm using "Screen shooter" v.1.6. Cry

Thats perfectly normal. That is why you have to compress your shots.

Obviously your's is slightly more due to your screen size but my SS are normal about 300kb while at 1024x768 so I have to crop and compress  Wink

my tip... dont resize it. when you have lined up your shot go to the view settings and set the resolution to 800x600x32 (32 you said you had?)

it will stretch on your screen, but as soon as you paste the shot, it comes out 800x600... not 800x600 on a 1600x1200 display

just try it, it does work, and i get shots that when are saved to put on SimV are just under the max limit. and the bonus is they dont scale down nastily either. a perfect shot everytime

Glad to have been of help.  Are you finding decent quality with your shots compressed?

Use paint.net.  When you save an image it tells you what size it is, so just adjust the quality until it's the size you want Wink
