Neat! I'm hoping to catch the Hawk, Tuscano and just maybe the Typhoon this weekend in Ursel at wings and wheels. Nice to see the RAF cares to come over to Belgium!

Yes it is, shame they can't properly support the major show in the biggest county of their own country on the same weekend. Roll Eyes

The main reason they come to Ursel, is because there is a remembrance this year of the Airfield during WWII. There was a squadron of Typhoons based here, so they send the new Typhoon in it's honour...

Sorry to be thick Steve, but is it Elvington that they're not attending? It seems a shame given the proximity of the RAF bases, has there been an official reason why Elvington isn't getting better attendance?

I've just looked at the programme for Elvington, it does look a little 'thin', I presume you're still going?

Also, does anyone know how many Hawks wear the display colour scheme this year? I thought it was just one, however when reviewing my pics I can see the XX307 (pictured above) was not the same Hawk carrying out the display as at Cosford

...

Is there more than one painted up, or did XX205 have a problem after Cosford?

Yes, I'm still going one day. You are correct, Elvington has suffered immensely in the hands of the RAF participation committee this year, one Tucano is a rather weak commitment. To be fair to the show though, what little they have got is pretty interesting, 4 Hunters, Seafire, Huey are just a few of them.

As for the display Hawk, yes, there is more than one. Waddington saw XX307.

At least the BBMF are booked for both days, although sadly without the Lancaster (you'd have thought the RAF PC would have thought an airshow at a former Bomber Command base would have been a sensible place to send the Lanc Roll Eyes ). Not having the Tucano, particularly with its local connections would have been a PR disaster - but then again not something I'd put past a PR department!

Seems sensible. I'm sure for the last few year's they've tried to hove two painted up. Often I think it depends on whether budgets will need to pay for "anniversary" special schemes too.

Indeed, I was expecting the Lanc at Cosford, and hadn't checked the flying programme, I was quite shocked when it didn't put in an appearance. You'd think they'd make an effort for somewhere like Elvington.......it must be one of the premier public northern airshows. Similarly, would more than 1 Tuc kill them? At least two or three would have a bit more of an impact  Roll Eyes

I answered my own on the Hawk's. Anet has some shots of both XX307 and XX205, interestingly both painted up with 'Mike Child' on the side of te cockpit.....does he let anyone else fly them I wonder?  Wink  Grin

Speaking of Anet......ahem, managed to get another one accepted........that's 3 in total  Grin. Not quite up to your level yet Steve  Wink  Grin Grin Grin

Normally Linton send another Tucano down for the static park at Elvington. Smiley
