You cannot load a compiled mdl file into a modelling program.

You need either the source file from the original builder, or create it yourself.

really?

ive seen lots of mdl converters and things. they were for half life 2 and dangerous sam (or something) and i only thought they didnt work becauese FS wasnt HL2

so is it a different mdl from the HL2 files?

Yes, a flightsim MDL is different from the Half-Life MDL.

OR ... you could download one of the available source files from the FFDS gmax library and play around with it?

that is a further possibility.. but the only way i know of getting the file in an OBJ file (the sort of type i need) is with a MAX script and alot of copy and paste  Undecided
