Finally finished my SPIT!

a tiny baby one at that, but still Wink

here's a few random shots I just took of the spit with the P-40 I finished not long ago, now it's time to work more on the B-29!

How did you get such a smooth finish for the paint job? I hate using brushes...

Actually the paint was brushed on using very soft brushes and two very light coats of Testors Acrylic Camoflauge green and camoflauge tan and dark gull grey, all paint that came included with a very cheap set of basic aircraft camo paint from the local wal-mart one day. Obviously one of the better investments surprisingly!

Nice Model I did in a different color scheme though, I hope you don't mind sharing a thread Wink

How did you get the decals to stick though, I had to use a coat of clear coat to get them to stick Undecided

I just used warm water and slide them on and wiped off with a dry tissue.... Wink

Oh, and I did use this stuff from Testors called Floquil, it helps to soften decals a little so they form tighter on rounded surfaces and overtop of other obstructions, ie, see the tail on my dc3 and how it conforms to the texture of the rudder Wink

Not a bad little MkIIa Spit there Jared, a couple of thoughts. Firstly the air filter isn't right. Secondly the RAF used a much darker brown for their camouflage. Thirdly I don't think Douglas Baader had a Wing Co. pennant before he got his Mk Va (I'll have to check however). Fourthly (and finally) the RAF tended to use a horrible off-green colour for the underside rather than gray with the green and brown cammo Wink

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Whic was funnily named Duck-egg Blue... Grin

Very nice - have you glued the undercarriage though - you appear to have the right leg in the left hole and vice versa - hence the raked back look you have...

Floquil...I've never heard of it I'll have to check my local hobby store and see what they have, because putting them on with just water on a bumpy surface is horrible Tongue
