Is there something that can tell you how fast your computer is processing data and stuff avalible. Also is there also something that can tell you how efficent your machine is?

Yes, its called a BENCHMARK test and it will not tell you anything unless you understand what you system should be doing a maximum performance.

Tweakers understand what their system should be getting before running such software and it is also use to see if a tweak had any significant effect.

Without knowing how well the system should run at peak efficency you will not know if the benchmark result is good or bad. That information requires one of 2 things to know where you stand,

1.  Comparison results of other towers of the exact hardware.

or

2. Experience in building and testing at which point you calculate that yourself.

I don’t think you are going to find benchmark results for a HP, Dell or OEM tower. You may but you will need to search the net and make sure the source is reputable.

Don’t believe ˝ of what you see and hear at Futuremark if you happen to discover their forums. They are full of kids that are usually stretching the truth about their systems or are fudging benchmarks using special clock software that make the program deliver better results. The ones that don’t cheat usually run extreme cooling and overclock a system like mad.

3D Benchmarks are 3DMark 03, 05 and 06

3DMark 03 is better for testing the CPU load and video card together, 3DMark 05 and 06 is more about video card than CPU and the CPU results are skewed for larger core processors. ie; a quad core gets a huge score even though most games wont use it right.

Futuremark.com

Hard Drive benchmarks are HDTach and ATTO Disk Benchmark. You will have to search for those. I prefer ATTO

There is also PC Mark which is a combined benchmark for the entire system and is also available at Futuremark.com

Another system wide test software is SiSoft Sandra which allows a complete system assessment or individual test benchmarks

If you re looking for a  “one button push” and then  “tell me what is wrong or what to do to make it faster” forget it, it does not exist.
