DALLAS, Texas (CNN) -- Amidst balloons and confetti, the management of Virtual American Airlines (
www.virtualaa.com) opens its doors to all new pilots who wish to join their ranks. “It has been a long road for everyone at VirtualAA for the last couple of months, but we can finally say that the rewards of all the hard work from the entire staff is starting to pay off” said an excited Efrain Ruiz, CEO/President of VirtualAA. “I want to say thank you to everyone who believed in us. During these times, we had pilots who could not handle the time and patience needed to bring you all a world-class Virtual Airline. Today I say to them… it’s your loss”, added Mr. Ruiz.
During his inaugural speech, the CEO expressed how the management of VirtualAA continues to work on some aspects which still need to be completed. One of the things still being developed is the LiveDISPATCH software. At its present state, it will handle all PIREPS and LiveACARS displays, but new features are being brought to the drawing board.
Another announcement which really generated lots of enthusiasm among the spectators, though it has been known for the last 2 weeks, was the acquisition of a dedicated server for its online operations. By having their own dedicated server, VirtualAA is able to provide bandwidth intensive services such as LiveVOICE (TeamSpeak server), highly customized vBulletin back-end and LiveACARS.
With LiveVOICE, pilots will be able to communicate in real-time via VoIP amongst other VirtualAA pilots. This will be extremely helpful for future Group Flights (GFIs) and especially for training purposes.
LiveACARS will provide anyone that visits the website, a LIVE real-time feed of any flight being flown by a VirtualAA pilot. Users will be able to track a flight from the time it pushes out of the gate to the time the pilot sets the parking brake at the destination airport. During the flight itself, users will be able to see a myriad of data relating to the flight, along with a flown path indicator. All of this is provided in conjunction with its proprietary software: LiveDISPATCH.
From what we were able to perceive at today’s inaugural ceremony, which took place at the newly built, 20,000 seat, $420 million dollar American Airlines Center, things look very bright for VirtualAA. If you are looking for a Virtual Airline with a strong foundation for years to come, based on friendship and the love for flight simulation and aviation in general, give VirtualAA a try.
