Great pics again Romulus, as have been all of your pics today, I've enjoyed them all.

I agree with you though, that ship looks bizarre from the bow, looks like it should fall over quite often.  Shocked

Cheers,

TSC.

They just don't make 'em like that anymore. I've always thought the RN needed a nice battleship again. Frigates and Destroyers just aren't as fun. And submarines spend too long being anti-social! Smiley

I was told by some guy at Nauticus that she was pushed into place by tugs and that there is supposedly only 4 feet from her keel to the bottom (at low tide) because of all the water she displaces. I have no idea if this is true or not (about the clearance to the bottom), but it sounds like a bit of BS to me.  Undecided

There's very little weight in her compared to when she was in service - no fuel, no ammo stocks, no food stocks, no crew... it all adds up.

Does sound like bs, however I did see a show on discovery or national geographic called boneyard and they were showing the mothballed ships and they had to move one of them and it's keel was sitting in like 10 feet of muck (give or take a few, i dont remember) under the water and they had to dredge it out, so he might be right?   Huh  The ship was a museum and it's dock was getting tore up so they had to move it out of the way so they could rebuild the dock

Great shots in all the posts, I really like the second one here, when you can compare the builds to the ship, it really shows how big those things are.  Mark
