Cheers! I hope I've posted this in the right place. I'm starting to get a bit more interested in the scenery aspect of FSX. There is a helipad and hangar in my home town for our local EMS Medevac service that, of course, doesn't exist in the FSX scenery. Is there a way to create and place them in my home town in FSX and if so, what software is needed to do it?

Regards and Many Thanks,
Nigel

There  are a couple of ways, depending on whether you have the FSX Deluxe version (which includes the SDK) or not. I have the standard version, so no SDK.

For the Deluxe version: The SDK has a Mission Builder which has an Object Placer. The easiest way to learn and use the Object Placer might be to go to Abacus Publishing and download their free Scenery Shortcut utility. It's tutorials guide you in activating and using the Object Placer and will then convert the mission scenery files created to active scenery.

For the Standard version: I don't know of any freeware FSX object placer utilities that work without the SDK. I have placed objects in FSX with Rwy12 but of course your limited to Rwy12 library objects.

I purchased and am very happy with the payware Instant Scenery utility by Flight1. Similar to EZ Scenery for 2004 (with more options and tools), it works in FS9 and FSX. It will place objects from the default object libraries as well as add-on EZ Scenery and Rwy12 object libraries. There is a demo available, limited to the Seattle area.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.          Igor Sikorsky

Well many thanks to ya!!! I do have the deluxe version and thought the SDK thing might have something to do with it, but I wanted to ask the experts first before I got my fingers and brain all twisted up! Guess the best place to start is learning about and playing around with the SDK...already have so might as well use it!

Regards and Thanks,
Nigel

Thank you for the link to Instant Scenery, this looks like it will take a lot of the work out of creating custom projects. Cool
