Waited in line last night to buy the book and saw the movie tonight.  The movie was excellent and I almost cried like a baby when I found out one of the two characters died in the FIRST chapter!

I seriously don't see the point in going out, spending 4 nights in a row in front of a bookstore to get the first copy of the latest book... People are insane...

I never read the books, but I watch the movies as they are aired on the televison. It's not bad, but nothing I go wild for.

But hey, if you like it Kevin... go for it and enjoy it as much as you can!  Wink

They have to die sooner or late  Smiley I enjoy the movies more then the books but the books come in handy for the long haul flights and car trips.

P.S Try getting the books of Ebay, very cheap there. Even Tesco are selling the new book for £5.00

Why is it that people with no opinions on a subject still feel the need to post, even if it's negative?

Well make that three as Mrs. Ozzy isn't interested in them either. She doesn't mind the films but she usually falls asleep pretty early on in them...... a bit like me with Formula 1 Grin

Read it in 2 days, about...15 hours. *points to sig*

I nearly cried during one chapter though, due to certain parts that reminded me of my fathers slow death...

Actually, I thought it was an ok ending.  I especially liked the epilogue and seeing what happened in the future.  Rowling has said that she would not rule out re-visiting the Harry Potter universe, but right now she is really ready for a break...

Albus Severus Potter?  Tongue  That one I could have lived without...

Is that the one by Robert Harris?  Read his book Fatherland, I loved it, it might even be considered my favorite book.

Seen the movies, read all about it in wiki, spells, names, locations, plot, everything, and still i see it as a children's book. For some reason im against fashions, and HP is fashionable nowadays.. so I dont read it... never liked it. I think its an OK idea for a book, or series of books, but i just feel the great creativity that JKR is credited with, just isnt there. I mean, what i can't stand, is all these "coincidences" in names mostly. Examples being: the professor for herbology is called Sprout... a guy named Sirius Black turns into a black dog, Sirius being a star in the Canis Major constelation, so basically he's "black dog". Family gone bad, called "malfoy"... Mal being evil in some latin languages. A "severe" teacher, named "Severus". The werewolf is called Lupin, Lupus being latin for Wolf. A girl called Luna turns out to have a dreamy personality, Luna meaning Moon...
Dont even get me started with the spells which apart from being poorly named, dont follow any kind of logic.

To me its just too many coincidences to make it realistic. Aaaaaaaand thats why i say HP is a badly executed idea.

BLASPHEMY!!!!  Grin  Grin  Grin

Now,  somebody mentioned about the "wiki"resource... tell you the truth I wish I hadn´t done it. Now, there is no element of surprise...

Anyway, in my family, both me and my wife LOVE the movies (don´t have any of the books).... and my kids get bored with it... Guess they are the "mature" members of the family!  Grin  Grin  Grin

As for the names and spells, I guess that opinions are like belly buttons, everybody has one, but I personally think that even though they are VERY obvious, they are also clever.

Cheers!

Frank.
