I have the SDK from FSX Deluxe installed, as well as the update. But how in the world do I run them?

You don't.
The SDK is a series of documents and tools to be used with either 3DSMAx7/8 or gmax.
Now, you will read and memorize the SDKs of your interest.... (starting with the overview)...

Please try again, the link does work for me...
http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax
I believe a copy of Gmax was also included on one of the FS2004 discs... Not sure about FSX, though.

The gmax executables are placed in the FSX SDK folder on your hard drive when installing the FSX SDK.
