FS 2004:
Air Traffic Control (ATC) which you are used to contacting during the normal Flight Sim is NOT available when playing on-line in Multiplayer, for technical reasons..!

Tuning the COM Radios will have no effect!

Most/all of the players on Sim V's Multiplayer Server....

...use FS 2002 and/or FS 2004.

I don't know if ATC is available on FSX, with a different Server... Roll Eyes...?

FSX multiplayer works straight out of the box.  Push 'caps lock' to transmit on a specific COM.  Push 'shift' + 'caps lock' to transmit to everyone.  Note: Most sessions offering ATC do not like people to use 'shift' + 'caps lock', unless it is some kind of emergency.  Read the session description carefully to find out who to contact and how.  Aside from that check your connections and sound settings within windows and FSX.  Good Luck, maybe I'll see(hear) you in the virtual skies.

excellent, thanks for the answers. I will have to check my sound settings in FSX. cause everything else is in order.
It does make a difference which channel everyone is on correct?

You have to check the session description for that.  If it says something like, "Contact tower on xxx.xx", then, yes, you will need to be on that frequency, and use 'caps lock'.  But if it doesn't specify a frequency and/or the title of the session is "Let's fly around and B.S.", then you will probably use 'shift' + 'caps lock'.  If the sessions you are joining have ATC, then I would bet that 90% of the time you will need to be on a specific frequency.
