Salutations everyone!

I have been looking to join an established aviation and flight simulation forum group for awhile now.  After looking around and peeking into websites and forums, I decided to join with Simviation as you have active participation, a well-constructed website, and great opportunities to expand my interest.  There is, however, a mysterious problem that I encountered.

Yesterday when I registered (under the user name "Xyn"), I was a member for several hours until my account mysteriously vanished.  It was not a case of forgetting my password; Simviation forums simply said my user name no longer existed (well, more accurately, could not be found).

I have re-registered today using "Xyn_Air", and I hope to be able to participate here as a member.  Because of that desire, can someone tell me what happened yesterday and how to prevent it from recurring in the future?  The only two ideas I could think of to explain what happened are, 1) "Xyn" being a short moniker may have been mistaken for a spam identity (it is not; it is just the last letters of my first, middle, and last names in reverse order); or, 2) You do not allow members outside the United States or North America (I am a U.S. citizen who currently is living and teaching in Japan).  Anyway, these are just mere guesses on my part, so I look forward to hearing from you as to causation and prevention of account deletion.

That is, help, please!

All the best,

Xyn_Air

The forums are case sensitive. If you registered as xyn but tried to login as Xyn it wouldn't recognise the username. Could be worth a try, meanwhile I'll check the user list for you. Back in a tickle Wink

How odd! The name doesn't appear on yesterdays registrations. I'll notify the webmaster immediately Wink

Thanks for checking into this problem for me.  My newest account (Xyn_Air) seems to be working just fine after about half-a-day, so it is not a problem at all for me to stay with this name.  Besides, Xyn_Air does sound a bit more aviation related, so all may have worked out for the best.

However, I do hope I can avoid being deleted again.  And this is my main concern, more than a specific account name.  If it was just one of those weird glitches, that's fine.  But, if I am doing something wrong, please, let me know.

Thanks so much for your help!

You won't have been doing anything wrong ....... Yabb (from which the forum has been constructed) occasionally throws up glitches and does weird things.

Stick with your current sign in, if it isn't causing problems and have a good time on the forums, we're a friendly if somewhat wacky bunch.

Thank you, everyone, for your comments and your help!

With my new account everything seems so-far-so-good.  I guess my first account was just the victim of modern-day gremlims.  RIP Xyn; long-live Xyn_Air!  Grin

I really look forward to participating as possible in the Simviation forums and community.  As always, your advice and comments are welcome, because there seems like so much to learn!

All the best,
Xyn_Air
