Of course, but an open magazine allows dirt to get in and foul up the works.  I don't know if the risk of a fouled-up magazine is worth being able to see the rounds.


If you're dismounted and you need to reload and drop a magazine out of your weapon, you would put it back into it's ammo pouch, or if you were in a hurry, shove it into a cargo pocket or some sort of drop leg pouch

I never said the G-36's magazines were open somewhere. They're just semi-transparent.
