I really dont think Raikonnen is that good, and like I said he did that at the test several times so he's not learning. I think Massa is running heavy Lewis rather light a Kimi maybe 2 laps longer than Lewis. If Massa can jump Alonso and keep on Kimi and Lewis' tail he stands a good chance of winning. If not then its Raikonnens race to lose.

As Autosport say this week, it appears Kimi expects to be able to turn up, drive the car, and win - a technique that you can't really get away with nowadays...

To be fair Kimi's never been one for the technical side, he's always been about knowing the minimum needed to set the car up and the first out the door after a race. I think thats why schumacher has remained so involved with the team and driving the car every now and then (only rumored)

It is a strange situation with the Ferrari team - you'd think Kimi would be recruited as an out and out number one, yet Jean Todt's son manages Felipe... As it's turned out, it's pretty good, with both leading teams fielding two pretty equal drivers. Smiley

good for the fans, very bad for the teams. And I know niether ferrari or Mclaren expected it to be as close between team mates as it has been. following the european GP both teams will have to think about nominating the driver who has the best chance of winning the title. After the European gp if Lewis were to win tomorrow and the next race, he would only need to finish 2nd for the rest of the season to be champion such would be the points lead. Kimi would need him to have several non podium finishes now to be in with a chance even by winning the rest of the season, Massa needs lewis to finish third several times to still have a chance if he wins out (which wont happen) Both Mclaren and Ferrari have the rather unplesant task of possibly telling their highly paid drivers that the cheap seats going for the title.

Brilliant for me, and with Hamilton promising to be one of the greatest ever, it is only fair he as a shot at winning the championship fair and square - it's not his fault Alonso has overcooked two starts, amongst other misfortunes... Smiley

Lol! You been reading Len Deighton's "SS-GB" again haven't you? Grin

Hard luck Lewis - you can't win 'em all. Nice to see a bit of racing too (until the pit stops!)

I was surprised just how much faster the Ferrari's were.
I dont doubt had Massa not messed up at the start (I dont believe it was a mech issue) that it would have been a 1-2 finish and Lewis wouldn't have even seen the podium. Kimi seemed the fastest guy out there regardless of Massa's run through the field he wasn't going to win whatever place he started.

I'll have to agree with you on that one Craig, Lewis got lucky due to Massa's stall on the grid.
Ferrari are looking more like their old selves at the moment and have taken over from McLaren as the faster package.
Ron Dennis et al need to do some serious hard work before Nurburgring...... or just call up Nigel Stepney  Grin   Wink ..joke..
Results up soon.

Mmm, I think Massa may have been at fault - as the commentary said, the Ferrari engineers were "miffed" as to the cause...

As for speed - it was said several weeks ago that Magny Cours and Silverstone would favour Ferrari. Autosport (again) did a nice comparison this week of which track should be favour which team, and apart from Fiji, which they couldn't call (I'd hedge my bets on Ferrari there - or Toyota Tongue), it was fairly even...
