...I was just wondering. If so, when? Would be good to have a Summer one but it would have to fit around the busy airshow season. If you need help organising it I would be willing.

Ps. I think the server should be password protected for the show and only people who have signed up to be there are PM'd the password.

If you or someone else is prepared to do all the work. I wouldn't expect the previous chaps to do it after the last time where it just turned into a stupid farce.

Hence, I suppose, the recommendation of having a password.

Problem is though, it was some of the participants, naming no names
concordepilot
who were also causing issues. Mrjakes recent valley airshow went pretty well because only people who had a real plan of what they were doing, a desire to fly realistically and watch others sensibly were there. When you make it on a larger scale you start getting people who are just going to be stupid and get bored waiting and keep asking "when am i on?" and "can i go now?".

I know the last airshow wasn't the ritz, but that shouldn't discourage us from abandoning it altogether. And I do strongly agree on the use of a password. One of the best ways of distributing the password is to PM it to the very people that you trust the most and know very well that they won't cause problems.

An open server is just an invitation to disaster, especially if it's an airshow. That's why I only host racing events because the participants get into the action very quickly as ooposed to waiting in line for hours just to perform a 5-minute display. This is also why online airshows should only be performed by those who really are dedicated to aviation.

If you want, I'm looking for some volunteers who can perform a opening-ceremony aircraft display for my next online race. It's still in the process of planning. Any takers?

I would be very willing to do the work... but who is actually in charge of organising these 'official' airshows? (I believe it was Tweek and Charlie but im not sure).

I would be up for that, depending on the date. What would you want me to fly?

Btw, a pm with the password to members who had signed up (and are trusted) to be there would be the best way of protecting the show in my opinion.

I'd be willing to set up another SimV airshow in due time. I'm not sure Tweek would though, but even if he wasn't too keen on the idea I'd probably see how another one went. Only difference is that I'd insist we have a password protect and power to kick people from the server (if possible). Even if we kicked someone from the server and they kept reconnecting, well, let's just say I'd happily keep kicking them. Grin Wink

I suppose I wouldn't mind there being another show, but I'd probably like to just participate instead of organise this time. As I've seen, Jake seems to be OK with the whole organising business, so I wonder if Charlie would like to sort it out with him again?

It'd be good to organise it with Jake, Tweek - I got the impression you'd rather fly than organise. Wink I'll send you a PM Jake and we'll start talking about it! Smiley

Whatever you prefer. Just send me a PM of the addon you like to fly by the end of Wednsday so that I can have it posted in time for others to see. If more than one person performs the air display in the opening ceremony, it would be best to have a formation flight with one type of aircraft in order to minimize the number of downloads needed.

By the way, I just finished setting up the next race. It's posted in the FSGV forums. See you then.

hmm, i would really look forward to another airshow. i wanted to do one or be in one myself. perhaps we could set something up later in the year? maybe if we just made a video and showed that... unless we had trustworthy players doing it.

you would need trustworthy people, an agreed lineup (times etc) and plenty of hardwork

i would love to!
