Merging parts... (Read 383 times)

Tinkering with this again...  At this rate, I may finish this in time for FSXX...

I'm looking for a way to merge these parts together so they look joined instead of tacked on.  Any thoughts?

I would suggest a boolean (union) and the chamfer the "joint"

the boolean technique is valid tho it has been know to be "dirty"... as in it´ll leave you with a bunch of misplaced vertices that appear to have come from the realm of beyond and will maybe make editing the joint difficult in the future...

two ways to fix it:

1 - after booleanizing, convert back to poly and use target weld to get rid of the unwanted verts...

2 - don´t boolean, CUT the print of the shape to be attached into the part you want it to attach to, delete the faces inside the cut and target-weld the verts into place... OR instaed of welding the verts directly, use the create polygon tool (create, under polygon sub-level) to create the faces that join the two Roll Eyes
