Simviation Forum - Avatar Option Won't Work

For the life of me I cannot get my avatar to load to add to my profile. No problem with my sig. Here is my avatar.

100x75 2.51KB

What am I doing wrong. I have tried to get it to load at least a dozen times. I'm all pooped out,Help!!!!

I've had this problem too. Does yours just come up blank? My image it too big, but the server should resize it.

I have resized my avatar to meet all the requirements before uploading it on the sim upload page. It gives me an image Ok HTTP link to copy and paste to my profile. I do that and click on update. It comes up blank. I'm lost as to what else do . Never had this problem on other message boards that I belong to.

I also tried the link without the imag brackets. I then get an error message saying invalid characters

The only time you'll get a problem is if you make a complicate file name using lots of odd characters (or in this case adding an extra file type ID). Now this is Bobs original file Code:

but if we change it to Code:

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/Bob70Stearman.jpg

there isn't a problem Wink

Oh and don't forget to tick the box next to the URL stating "I have my own image" or it won't work Wink

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Well, I proved it works so it must be you. No image is showing in your avatar, not even a red X. Make sure you paste the full path in the box without the img brackets. Just like you posted above. Here it is again. http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/marmy2.jpg

Try what I told you. Paste the path in the box WITHOUT the [img] code.

Still doesn't work, doug.... I must warn you, my parents downloaded a 'Cybersitter' program. It's set to allow simV, but has been causing problems. I find it very odd, however, that the avatars don't and the sig do.

I don't mind, particularly, i'll just keep to the forum default images.

This won't work either, so I don't think It's really solvable Undecided

I tried my avatar using the full path including the [img][/img ] brackets & it didn't work. There was no image or red X but an empty space where the avatar should be just like yours. This makes me suspect that this is your problem.

The only thing I can think of is that you're using the [img][/img ] or [url][/url ] codes in the "I have my own pic:" box. This is not necessary & the avatar image won't display if you use any code. Just use the full URL like this ----> http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/marmy2.jpg

No, I'm definetly doing that. I really don't know what's wrong. however, Hagar, don't worry. I don't mind that it won't work, but it is very odd...
