Hello gentlemen,
hello Harry
Since I got that job im putting out the big edits not that often anymore but from time to time I feel like it
Shown is a two ship Spitfire formation of the 309th FS, 31st FG USAAF lead by Cpt. L. P. Molland. While on a ptrol flight on the coast of Tunesia they found another 2 planes which proved to be 109s. While leading his small flight into the interception Molland opens fire and scores a lucky hit on one Messerschmitt. When the other pilot realizes what jsut happened he pulls out to get away as fast as possible.

here
for the SSP thread with a 1680x1050 version.
Spitfire skins are by myself, 109s are by Cannon and Raven.
Thank you for watching gentlemen!

Thank you!!
Gallery or not, I'm happy that I was able to get pretty close to what I had in mind after a couple of no-go's I had recently. That'S the best thing, the feeling when you finished one and put it on as wallpaper
Must say the new LCD screen helps a lot too. Again NEC but this time the colors are WAY better, I eventually have smooth color transitions back instead of odd banding with the TN-panel display before.
How.. well.. the background consists of a few IL2/PF background images pasted together, the planes are all seperate shots too.. I think from the applied techniques this one isn'T even that though.
The "bands" under the wings are pitot tubes and antennas.

Actually, on the 109 at least, they're aileron counterweights.
And it's getting boring always seeing just one-sided edits.

Oh I thought he meant the Spit. Indeed, you're right there! Didn'T think of the 109s.
Well you are free to show them the other way around. I tried but I'm having a hard time with german fighters. Did it with the "Uhu" edit time ago though. For some reason the single engine german fighters don'T attract me as main subject, no idea why. For example the 190 which looks pretty neat i think, as of now I did not find a way to show her in an angle that satisfies me. I think she looks very nice from her 4 or 5 low looking slightly up to her though. Gonna try that I think

good choice. See, this is what is my inspiration, classical aviation art. I'm always trying to get results along their lines.
Well I'm far form recreating the master's backgrounds though and cleaning it from the planes to be recycled for me is no option.

wow brettr... thanks!
well I think we missed each other at SSA. Must not post there for over a year now. Posting quite regulary on SSP though. Not many of these "bigger" edits, that's true. Last one was "Early Bullet" more down here.
You are invited to visit SSP any day. If we can get over this annoying host problem we currently have..
