I only live 7 miles from Bruntingthorpe, and I don't plan to spend the day sitting outside hoping something's going to happen if any info is just based on unfounded rumour!
You should be able to hear it when they start those engines then!!!
wouldnt that be a bit too far...I live 3 miles from the end of rwy 25 at CYQG...i can hear reverse thrust of turboprops, and jets taking off..but i doubt that you would hear from 7 miles away...even with the vulcan's engines...

perhaps a slight exageration, but the vulcan is one of the loudest jets ever built. Louder than concorde I believe.

I'd say that idea was ridiculous, but I'm about 6/7 miles from EGNT, but I still hear a Tornado spool up when one does a missed approach on 25, so who knows.

all depends on the wind. Unfortunatly if the winds in the right direction to hear it, that means the things heading in the wrong direction to see it

Eh, I believe you WILL be able to hear it at 7 miles - I live about 10 miles from YSSY, and can still hear a 747 on engine startup - gave me quite a jump when I was minding my own business...on the loo...and I heard a spool sound...

It was a joke.
Bruntingthorpe has been modified, if you will, in order to cut out the amount of noise coming from the airfield. I believe I was told it was Peugeot (don't quote me on that) that added embankments and planted tall trees around the perimeter as they were using it as a proving ground. And the residents around Bruntingthorpe have a reputation of complaining, despite the fact it used to be home to RB-66s and B-47s in the 50's.
I may hear it if it gets a bit closer, whilst in the air, but certainly not when it's sitting on the ground. You don't hear the Lightnings from here, and that's saying something!

Lol guys! I was only joking... I highly doubt that you could hear the Vulcan on the ground from 7 miles away. But you probably would if its flying around the airfield. I was merely saying that as Tweek lives so close, he wont need to find out when the Vulcan is flying because he will hear it!

to give you an idea, they will take 3 weeks for ground tests once the final components are fitted before flying, as stated in a recent update. They have roughly 200 ground checks to do lookiing at the check list pictures 20 or so are currently completed. So if the final pieces arrived tomorrow and were fitted it would be about 3 weeks earliest before you see it flying.

Not bothering with Elvington again this year 'if' the Vulcan doesn't show. Be a weak lineup now that there are no RAF fast jet (the Hawk doesn't count) solos.
