Ive been hearing that the Vulcan Is Now Airborne?

Simulating the Vulcan being cleared to Waddington, in the optimistic hope that it appears at the airshow as they plan (I guess).

it'll be given a press release for its first flight since you can bet the media will be all over it. My uncle works with the media/sky so i'll be asking him to keep an ear on that. Plus you can be fairly certain it'll be made public knowledge before it happens anyway. Things like the ground runs will take about a week or so, and those will be hard to miss. Remember this thing wont just roll out the hangar and hit the runway to fly. She'll have to perform the various ground safety runs, low speed taxi, low speed taxi and braking. low speed taxi emergency braking, then the high speed runs and braking checks.
I might be wrong, but thats the general way these things happen with other tests thrown in aswell.

True.... as soon as all that starts to happen, people will cotton on that the first flight is only around the corner, and news crews etc will definitely want to be there for the big moment... They can't really keep it 'hush hush' even if they wanted... and as I live local word should spread fast of when its roughly going to fly.

It's highly unlikely they're going to give out any test flight details (time, date, etc) to the general public. Bruntingthorpe won't be open to the public on them days, and you'll have a job getting a decent view of anything but the landing, due to the tall trees planted right around the airfield perimeter.

Fair enough, you may get rumours on the net following taxi tests (who's going to to be sitting there listening out, I don't know - I highly doubt it'll be the residents of Peatling Parva and Bruntingthorpe itself!) and the possibility of inside info from the media, but don't get your hopes up about seeing the test flights.

I only live 7 miles from Bruntingthorpe, and I don't plan to spend the day sitting outside hoping something's going to happen if any info is just based on unfounded rumour!

Of course they won't give out times and dates... but people will simply find out through word of mouth. Its not like there going to be able to sectretly do all the taxi test without at least one person realising and thinking 'Hmmm, is that not the Vulcan?' especially when its nearling the point when they will begin to do this. And that one person only needs to mention it to a few others and it could spread quite quick that the Vulcan is nearing its first flight... It could even come from a more reliable source such as an engineer who tells his friends or family, and i'm pretty sure that both the media would like to report on it and TVOC would enjoy the publicity... I think they will try and keep it quiet about when it will be taxiing and flying but for the people who want to find out roughly when it happens it shouldn't be as hard as it seems.
