Went over to Sleap today, to get my eye in and drain my camera battery before Cosford tomorrow, and came across an old friend  Cool

...

I caught sight of this one a couple of years ago when I went for a flying lesson, nice to see it at Sleap again, although I understand it is a pretty regular visitor
...

I also saw it at Cosford last year. I had a brief chat with the owner, unfortunately he's not doing much in the way of displays this year
...

I'm reliably informed that this is a resident Yak11, G-IYAK. Have to keep my eye out for this one, more regular trips are in order I think
...

Finally, i just fancied trying to age this pic a little, I quite like it  Smiley
...

Looking forward to Cosford tomorrow, can't wait to see what I get

There never was a Yak-11 in Normandie-Niemen colors... only Yak-7's (and of these there arent much left)

But it does fit the plane well

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here

Eugh, twin seater Spitfires just don't look right. Undecided

Nothing wrong with the shots though, good work, enjoy (hope you enjoyed) Cosford. Smiley

Great shoots! And the Yak looks massive!

I agree with Steven, double canopy spits look a bit odd, but they are better than no Spitfires at all, that's what I say!  Grin

When you own an aeroplane you can paint it any colours you like! Wink Grin The great thing about the Yak-11 is its close similarity to the earlier fighter members of the family, and hence the ease of using wartime schemes on them. Smiley

That is a nice plane Steve and the Yak isn't all that shabby either Wink

...
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

From the front of the wing to the tail it's a yak-3... with a radial up front and clipped wings. Most recent Yak-3s started their life as a Yak-11

Quite. Shame the one that came to the UK with the OFMC disappeared a year or two after.

No, the pilot/owner is a guy called Anthony Hodgson....the chap under the wing was with him and was in the back seat when he took off back home. I assumed he was his engineer, but that may be doing the chap a disservice  Embarrassed

And I like 2 seater Spitfires.......unlikely as it may be they represent possibly my only ever chance of getting to fly a Spitfire.....now where's that overdraft application again  Huh  Wink  Grin

I like the pic nonetheless, because of its relaxed mood.
