Where did 'emil' come from? Was it some sort of codename the allied pilots gave the 109?

Bf 109F = Friedrich
Bf 109G = Gustav
Bf 109H = Hans
Bf 109J =
Spanish produced version of the Bf 109
Bf 109K = Kurfürst/Karl/Koenig
Bf 109T = Trägerflugzeug (carrier aircraft)
Bf 109Z = Zwilling
Bf 109W = Wasserflugzeug
Those codenames given here was the most commonly used by the Luftwaffe, but different names to each model was sometimes given by different squadrons of the Luftwaffe..
