How Quiet... (Read 1343 times)

Is the new A380? Anyone else heard it? Tonight, (this marks the 3rd time I have seen the 380) it flew over my house on approach to YSSY, 16R. As soon as it landed, I ran into my mums room and asked if she could hear it. "Hear what?" she responded.  This ought to stop complaints about engine noise.  Grin

I've never heard it, but I would imagine Airbus engineers tried their best to reduce aerodynamic noise.

Remember that was landing. Take off would be much louder. Wink

I didn't know there were any complaints.  I recall seeing a video of people witnessing the A380 arrive at LAX and people commented on how quiet it was as well.  I attribute that to better quality engines.

Wasn't that one of the goals of the A380 design? A much more environmentally friendly plane? Both nature, and people wise?

Surely aerodynamic noise would make up a minuscule 5% or less of the overall noise footprint?
I was under the impression it was down to the engines?

It depends on the wind too. Arrivals into LaGuardia I can either hear from down here in my basement and sometimes I could be outside on a dead still day and not hear anything. That is, with being able to see them also.

Have to agree.  Very pleasant hum to fly with.
