I like the series, even if there is absolutely no realism in flight dynamics.

The no. 5 storyline was great, 0 was not so good.  I don't think 0 was not much of an improvement at all.

Still love the series, though... Grin

the flight dynamics suck, but the gameplay is still very good.  especially the so-called boss battles, where the enemy are really hard to get. Wink

another unrealistic thing:  99 Sidewinders???  Are you mad??? Shocked  lol.

still, great game.  I actually have a friend who sucks at it, because he says he doesnt know how to fly properly.  i say to him try FS... Grin

I'm a big fan of the games (particularily 4 and 5. Ace Combat X for the PSP was good too)

It may be totally unrealistic (something that usually ruins games for me) but it somehow manages to deliver in gameplay. Graphics aren't to bad either. (for the PS2)

Really?

I remember the first time I came to these forums and when I first saw you, I thought:  Hey, that's like the callsign in Ace Combat 4.  What a coincidence.
Now I know, it is because of Ace Combat 4!!! Grin Wink

Why does it seem that you pop up in almost every post imaginable? Huh

I don't get you, I've seen you in so many posts, and in almost all of them, you don't really add to it.  You just say something, and that's it.  It is really annoying. Undecided Huh Tongue

Too arcarde.

"Aircraft" and "arcarde" only mix to a certain extent.

Then again, I've only played Ace Combat 2 or 3 on a friend's Playstation for a short time...but I doubt that the later versions changed the gameplay fundamentally.

I could write whole essays about this, but for now I'll settle for "Too much time on my hands."

i suppose its ur right.  but u hav to admit, posting something just for the sake of posting something doesnt help people, or add to their discussion.

And I apologize now for turning this thread into a little discussion about Björn's posting habits.

Please, do continue the feedback about Ace Combat Wink.

Isn't it a tad bit hypocritical that you guys are down here discussing Bjoern's posting habits when you guys do the exact same thing else where?...

...and just for the record, the thread DID ask him for his opinion about the game...which is exactly what he gave (happens to be mine too...)...

Ace Combat...well after making over 1500 posts about it from April (minus July) to October at the Namco forums, Beaten AC2, AC4, AC5, and ACZ all on Ace mode with full S's have all the aircraft and repaints, have down loaded the FS9 X-02, and ADF-01... what do you think?

Also I think Ace Combat 4 Shatered Skies (Distant Thunder for you in Europe Wink) was the best. I mean the growing rivalry between Mobius 1 and Yellow 13 was pretty cool. But the missles and guns were too much. But I still like and and intend on getting Ace Combat 6 Fires of Liberation this fall for the Xbox 360!

Hell yeah, I love Ace Combat 5. While it is unrealistic, it provides a nice break from all those CAT III approaches. Great to vent stress, and you get to fly aircraft that are...unavailable for FS.

So true. I think 5 has the best Storyline, but not enough of a rivaly between pilots.

we all have to admit tho, the story lines in the Ace Combat Series have always been good.  And I especially like the way alot of the fictional planes and stuff's names tend to come from legends and mythology.  Like the XB-0 was named after a Norse god who was a giant (and the XB-0 itself is a stupidly huge aircraft).  In Ace Combat Zero (i think) you were named the Demon of the Round Table, and the huge tower super-weapon was named Excaliber, both from the Camelot type things.

Apart from the flight dynamics, Ace Combat is one of the best combat flight games ever. Cool

I simply adore the Ace Combat series. Great storylines, gorgeous graphics, some truly delicious aircraft, and just plain fun.

Yeah, it's unrealistic, but when it comes to these sorts of games, I say sod realism, sod authenticity, and sod physics; if the games keep me well entertained, then that's enough for me.

I love the AC games, the storylines are really well, played out and written especially in the later games, in such a way that you could almost call them believable. the flight dynamics are not that bad, simplified a little yes, but for most of the base aircraft, they are pretty accurate. Just the weapons that are obviously not realistic.

Yes, yes and the ADFX-01 Morgan was named for Morgan le Fay. Stonehenge and Megalith have to do with the real Stonehenge.

Also who doesn't like a "sim" where it isn't a pain in the rear to get repaints?

thats interesting.

when i was 6, my dad bought FS98 and a little logitech joystick, and in no time i was landing at KaiTak constantly, and flying around other places.  ever since then, i played just about any Flight Game or Sim, regardless of its realism.
