Looked for tutorials, but they didnt really help. Any pre-made models I can run off of.

If you actually DO the tutorials, you'll get a feel for the program.

Look in the samples folder, and you'll see you already have a number of sample aircraft.

How many posts do you want me to have and I'll change it..... *my* posted post count has nothing to do with the real number of posts I've posted -

Explain - what do you mean by "you can't figure out how to put an engine so it will go" ?    Have you even compiled a  sample model yet?

What version of FSDS do you have and have you installed the correct SDK?

I'll take a stab...when compiling the model, you need to associate it to an existing aircraft in FlightSimulator in order for it to adopt it's flight characteristics. Best way to do it is to take an aircraft that is close to your project in terms of configuration (# engines, weight, size), and performance. Your aircraft will then fly exactly like the one it has been associated to, and can be tweaked afterward if desired (that can be a project in its own right). FSDS2 and FSDS3 compile differently; the former is very easy and does so "internally", while the latter uses FS2004 MakeMdl (requiring FS2004 SDK as mentioned by Felix above) which you will need to download.

When you exported it, there was a typical Windows, "where do you want it to go" window. If you didn't "tell" it where to go, it should be in the default folder. Just go back and pretend to export it again and see where it wants to go.

You had to name it too.. so you could search for it by name..

However.. the REAL question is;  If you didn't have an export destination in mind, just what were you planning to do with the exported model ?  (that's a nice way of saying, "you got some more research to do"  Smiley   )

Then again, he could have overwritten the "reference"  model he was using to compile, by not having ticked "new aircraft".

OF course, that doesn't happen to "experts"  (you should have seen my lovely dull grey test cylinder when I selected the default Piper Cub...)

I was wondering, if anyone had some free time and had FSDSv3 could help me get a feel. I'm trying very hard but I just don't understand it. I've done a tutorial, but I couldn't get past a certain step.   Embarrassed
